IS Technical Specialist (Senior Application Developer and Technical Lead)
About The Position
The IS Technical Specialist provides technical and consultative support on the most complex technical matters. This role involves analyzing, designing, and developing systems based upon user specifications, and providing technical assistance in solving hardware or software problems. The specialist will possess an in-depth knowledge of and work with the technical tools available for systems development and support, and maintain and demonstrate knowledge of technical industry trends, particularly as they apply to Huntington. This role may also assist with identifying training needs or with training of less experienced staff, and may serve as a project leader for specific projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years of related experience or an additional 4 years of related work experience may be considered in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree
- Fluent in Java 8 or above, with experience developing large-scale backend applications
- Strong experience with modern Java technologies and object-oriented programming
- Strong hands-on experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot
- Experience designing, developing, and integrating REST APIs and microservices
- Strong front-end development experience with React.js
- Experience across the full web application development lifecycle
- Experience with SQL and relational database management systems, including DB2, Oracle, and MySQL
- Experience with Swagger/OAS, Maven, Eclipse, Jenkins, Git, GitHub and Postman/Newman
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in a multi-platform environment
- Ability to balance both development and application-support responsibilities
- Strong interpersonal skills, a customer-service focus, and the ability to work effectively with IT teams, vendors, and business groups
- Experience working on projects involving multiple business segments
- Expertise in relational database schema design and maintenance
- Ability to understand and write clear code documentation and effectively communicate proposed solutions to others
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize applications for security, performance, and responsiveness
- Strong technical leadership skills, including guiding developers, conducting code reviews, and coordinating technical deliverables
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Apigee or a similar API gateway platform is preferred, since application API calls are routed through an API gateway
- Banking industry experience is a plus
