What Makes This Role Great: In this high-impact position, you will serve as the trusted face of the Corporate IS department, leading projects, mentoring team members, and optimizing enterprise IT processes to elevate technical operations across the organization. The IS Desktop Specialist is a key player on the front lines of Trimble Corporate IS. This position is perfect for someone looking to leverage their expertise in being the face of the IS department. While providing exceptional customer support, you will uphold the integrity and credibility of the department as a whole. Critical core competencies for this position are customer service, professionalism, communication, and strong technical skills. The focus for this position is on service desk support, ticket queue coordination, process ownership, inventory control, and project participation and management. In this position, the specialist is also expected to be able to lead project teams, train and mentor other help desk staff, and deliver priorities effectively with little supervision.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or a related field) and at least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Alternatively, candidates with an Associate’s Degree and at least 6 years of relevant experience may be considered.
  • Relevant IT certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA A+, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, verbal and written.
  • Experience of providing exceptional and effective customer service with both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Independently maintains and renews continuous relations with established suppliers, partners and stakeholders.
  • Reliability in operating independently and as a member of a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to document technical information in ITSM systems and maintain ticket lifecycle management effectively.
  • Experience in asset lifecycle management.
  • In depth experience with: Windows, macOS, Linux, mobile devices, tablets, printers, conference room equipment, etc.
  • Intermediate knowledge of networks, cybersecurity, client-server model, on-prem and cloud-based endpoint management platforms, etc.
  • Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, or Python) to enhance operational efficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace for enterprise collaboration and project management

Responsibilities

  • Support end users with desktop support and deployment of hardware and software.
  • Display a high-level of customer service and professionalism.
  • Deliver timely support through a sense of urgency – communicate progress of incidents and service requests to end-users throughout the lifecycle of their ticket.
  • Resolve issues individually or in conjunction with other IS staff and resources in a timely and effective manner.
  • Communicate with peers, other IS staff, IS management, business group managers, and other employees in support of end users and the corporate IS infrastructure.
  • Leverage excellent troubleshooting skills and technical proficiencies in support of a variety of hardware (Dell, Apple, Samsung, Google, etc.) and operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain internal documentation and processes.
  • Increase operational effectiveness and efficiency via process improvement, automations, etc.
  • May plan and manage IT projects involving multiple stakeholders and external resources.
