About The Position

The Cook is a key member of the restaurant team at TravelCenters of America, responsible for preparing and presenting quality food to guests. The role includes prep and grill cook tasks, preparing products to guest specifications and plate presentation guides, completing food preparation and temperature checklists, and following safe food-handling, storage, waste-control, and equipment-maintenance procedures. The Cook works with restaurant leaders and coworkers to prioritize work around restaurant and guest needs, follow safety guidelines, and provide great customer service. Other job-related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Good verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.

Responsibilities

• Work in a fun, trusting environment focused on great customer service.
• Wash, chop, and sort ingredients and perform other prep cook tasks.
• Set up broiler, fryer, and grill stations according to line check sheets.
• Prepare products to guest specifications and follow plate presentation guides.
• Complete prep, freezer pull, and temperature checklist sheets.
• Practice safe food handling and storage, and follow waste-control procedures.
• Follow safety guidelines and report potentially unsafe situations caused by team members or customers.
• Maintain equipment according to operating standards.
• Prioritize work according to restaurant and guest needs.
• Build strong communication and rapport with leaders and coworkers.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
