About The Position

Wellington Management is seeking an Investment Research, Climate Change Co Op to support their Climate Research Team. This role will focus on integrating climate risk into investment strategies, considering physical climate change and energy transition risks and opportunities. The co-op will conduct research on physical climate risks, perform self-directed research projects on climate change impacts on financial markets, and support the development of analytical frameworks. Responsibilities also include attending and summarizing climate research hubs with partner organizations like Woodwell Climate Research Center and MIT Center for Sustainability Science and Strategy (CS3), and other climate-related meetings. This position offers exposure to bridging the gap between climate science and finance to understand potential impacts on capital markets and identify asset mispricings.

Responsibilities

  • Support investors on climate integration with a lens of both physical climate change and energy transition-based risks and opportunities.
  • Conduct research in areas of physical climate risks through company physical risk exposure reviews.
  • Carry out self-directed research projects which may include thematic research on the impacts of climate change on different parts of the financial market, gathering relevant data in advance of specific engagements with companies, and supporting the development of analytical frameworks to understand climate change impacts.
  • Attend and summarize company-wide climate research hubs with the Woodwell Climate Research Center and MIT Center for Sustainability Science and Strategy (CS3), and other climate-related meetings including company engagements, sell-side presentations, and industry groups.
