About The Position

Houlihan Lokey’s Oil & Gas Group provides investment banking advisory services to companies and investors in the oil and gas industry. The team works on large, complex transactions across upstream, midstream, downstream, and molecule-related alternative energy sectors. It is a global, cross-product industry group with bankers in Houston, Dallas, New York, London, Dubai, and Hong Kong, and regularly handles cross-border deals.

As an Associate, you will support and lead work across financial analysis, valuation, due diligence, marketing engagements, and client relationships. The role involves preparing transaction materials and supervising junior staff. Requirements

• Strong academic track record.
• 3–4 years of investment banking experience within an M&A generalist or industry team; Oil & Gas experience is preferred.
• Solid understanding of the sell-side M&A process and proven experience successfully closing deals.
• Fundamental understanding of financial valuation methodologies and applications.
• Advanced financial modeling and analytical abilities, including strong NAV, DCF, and LBO modeling skills.
• Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills.
• Understanding of financial statement analysis and ability to work through key assumptions, implicit caveats, and limitations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel.
• Independent thinking and resourceful problem-solving ability.
• Strong work ethic, organizational skills, and ability to multitask.
• Motivation and demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff in a rapidly changing, demanding environment.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, analyze, and help explain historical and projected financial information.
• Create financial models and value companies and businesses.
• Coordinate and perform business due diligence.
• Prepare confidential information memoranda, management presentations, and marketing pitches.
• Lead the planning and execution of marketing engagements.
• Build relationships and maintain direct contact with clients, prospective clients, professional advisors, and other stakeholders.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff.
