About The Position

Performs administrative and clerical support work to assist the section/unit. Includes typing and data entry; tracking, verifying and updating reports for internal use; customer service call handling; timely processing and disseminating of information, paperwork and follow-through for a variety of section/unit support needs. Interacts with inside and outside customer contacts. Handles all matters with speed and accuracy.

  • Ability to perform other clerical duties such as filing, answering the phone and/or compiling correspondence
  • Ability to type
  • Knowledge of general office policies, procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation and spelling
  • Skill in the use of office equipment including computers, printers, scanners, and various software applications
  • Required to speak and hear clearly
  • Often required to sit and use hands and fingers, to handle or feel
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb stairs or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Requires close vision
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • Two years' experience as an Administrative Assistant, or equivalent required
  • Strong computer skills required, to include Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid Florida driver license required
  • 35 WPM typing required

Responsibilities

  • Provides information, assistance, and services to the general public, employees, and others in person, by telephone or by other forms of communication.
  • Prepares and maintains written correspondence as required
  • Performs routine computer-related duties including data entry and retrieval.
  • Performs routine clerical, scanning, and filing duties.
  • Maintains accurate records of office files, libraries, and inventory files.
  • Retrieves and delivers information, documents, supplies or parts from vendors and/or Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
  • Successfully completes all assignments to specifications, within specified timeframe and budget, as directed and in accordance with agency policies and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
