About The Position

The Inventory Procurement / Warehouse Specialist manages procurement, inventory control, shipping and receiving, and warehouse activities to support the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of Gordonsville Power Station. This position processes purchase requisitions and orders, maintains vendor and inventory records, monitors supplier performance, and uses SAP to manage purchasing and inventory transactions. The Specialist works closely with maintenance, operations, accounting, plant management, and suppliers to ensure accurate inventory, timely availability of parts and materials, effective cost control, and efficient warehouse operations.

Requirements

  • Previous inventory procurement or materials management experience sourcing parts, equipment, supplies, and services, plus at least two years of experience in inventory control, shipping, receiving, material storage, and related warehouse activities in an industrial or similar environment.
  • At least one year of mechanical trade or industrial maintenance experience, with familiarity with common mechanical parts, equipment, tools, and maintenance materials.
  • General accounting experience involving purchase requisitions, purchase orders, vendor invoices, cost coding, accounts payable, reconciliation, and financial recordkeeping.
  • Working knowledge of inventory and warehouse practices, including cycle counts, physical inventories, stock adjustments, material issuance, storage, shipping, and receiving, with proficiency using ERP, CMMS, or inventory management systems for tracking, reconciliation, and reporting; SAP experience is preferred.
  • Ability to identify and verify mechanical parts and materials using equipment manuals, bills of material, drawings, specifications, part numbers, and vendor documentation.
  • Understanding of quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements for receiving, handling, storing, and documenting industrial materials, including regulated or hazardous materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze inventory activity, monitor stock levels, identify excess or slow-moving materials, coordinate with suppliers, and support material availability and cost-effective purchasing.
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and teamwork skills, with the ability to operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment or obtain required certifications
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Relevant industry, or military experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement activities, including purchase requisitions, required approvals, purchase orders, and acquisition of materials, equipment, and services for plant operations and maintenance.
  • Maintain vendor, fixed-asset, purchase-requisition, insurance, terms and conditions, and other required purchasing records.
  • Develop supplier relationships, place orders, follow up on deliveries, monitor performance, and address issues involving pricing, quality, delivery, and service.
  • Review purchase orders, receipts, invoices, cost coding, and supporting documentation and resolve discrepancies with vendors, accounting, and plant personnel.
  • Track procurement and inventory costs and support budgeting, accruals, accounts payable, audits, outage costs, capital expenditures, and other cost-control activities.
  • Generate and analyze SAP reports for purchasing activity, open orders, inventory levels, material usage, receiving status, costs, and vendor performance.
  • Coordinate with operations and maintenance personnel to identify and source parts, equipment, tools, supplies, services, and other resources needed for routine maintenance, repairs, and outages.
  • Oversee inventory levels, cycle counts, and physical inventories while reconciling discrepancies and identifying slow-moving or excess materials.
  • Inspect, account for, document, and properly store incoming materials and equipment to verify quantity, condition, specifications, and purchase-order requirements.
  • Facilitate shipping, receiving, returns, transfers, repairs, and contractor-furnished materials while maintaining accurate records.
  • Organize warehouse storage and control the issuance, return, transfer, adjustment, and tracking of parts, materials, and supplies in SAP.
  • Stage materials and equipment for maintenance and outage activities and coordinate with appropriate supervisors to support personnel and resource requirements for repairs and maintenance.
  • Administer purchasing and inventory procedures in SAP, including receiving, stock issues, inventory transactions, and material requests, and train designated personnel on established system processes.
  • Ensure regulated and hazardous materials are properly handled and stored; operate material-handling equipment and maintain forklift trainer certification as required.
  • Respond to emergency purchases, expedited shipments, and other time-sensitive material needs while performing additional duties as assigned by plant management.
