About The Position

The Inventory Control & Supply Chain Manager serves as a critical link between the corporate purchasing team (Commodity Managers, Supply Chain Managers), local facility purchasing teams (Buyers), and floor-based logistics operations (Warehouse & Yard Crew). This role is responsible for driving end-to-end inventory accuracy, ensuring material availability, improving operational efficiency, and supporting strategic supply chain initiatives across multiple facilities. This position combines hands-on operational leadership with data-driven decision-making, process improvement, and technical innovation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to identify opportunities for automation and systems optimization. This leader will ensure seamless material flow from supplier to production while supporting business growth, cost control, and customer delivery commitments. Additionally, this role will champion systems integration and emerging technologies—including AI-enabled tools within Epicor—to modernize and enhance supply chain performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in inventory control, materials management, warehouse operations, or supply chain leadership.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment with both plant-level and corporate supply chain interaction strongly preferred.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Epicor ERP or similar Tier 1/Tier 2 ERP systems strongly preferred.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills, including advanced spreadsheet and dashboard capabilities.
  • Experience with supply chain automation, AI tools, and digital transformation initiatives preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of warehouse and yard operations across supported locations to ensure safe, organized, and efficient material handling.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for receiving, storage, staging, movement, and shipment of materials.
  • Partner with warehouse supervisors and team members to optimize workflows, maximize space utilization, and reduce material handling inefficiencies.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory turns, storage utilization, picking accuracy, and material movement efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, company procedures, and operational controls.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve a robust cycle counting program to maintain high inventory accuracy.
  • Generate count schedules and count sheets for warehouse teams, audit results, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop reporting metrics to monitor count accuracy trends and identify recurring issues.
  • Lead the planning, coordination, execution, and reconciliation of annual or periodic physical inventory counts across all facilities.
  • Ensure accurate inventory valuation and proper reconciliation between physical counts and ERP records.
  • Collaborate with finance and operations teams to support audit readiness and reporting requirements.
  • Serve as the lead investigator for inventory variances, shortages, overages, and transaction errors.
  • Analyze root causes of dead stock, obsolete inventory, and orphaned materials caused by system issues, canceled orders, engineering changes, or process breakdowns.
  • Partner with Buyers, Operations, and Finance to develop disposition strategies including reallocation, supplier return, repurposing, or write-off recommendations.
  • Implement corrective actions to reduce future excess and obsolete inventory exposure.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and support to Buyers to ensure purchasing activities align with operational demands and inventory objectives.
  • Monitor purchase order status, supplier commitments, and order expediting to minimize production disruptions.
  • Support escalation and resolution of supply shortages, late deliveries, and critical material constraints.
  • Collaborate with purchasing teams to optimize reorder points, safety stock levels, and replenishment strategies.
  • Drive accountability and consistency in procurement processes and transactional accuracy.
  • Support broader corporate supply chain initiatives by providing operational insight, analytics, and execution support in the following areas: Supplier Scorecards
  • Develop and maintain supplier performance scorecards focused on quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost competitiveness.
  • Analyze trends and identify suppliers requiring performance improvement plans.
  • Supplier Audits
  • Participate in supplier reviews and audit activities to evaluate process capability, service performance, and risk exposure.
  • Support corrective action planning and supplier development initiatives.
  • Strategic Buy Planning
  • Partner with corporate purchasing to support strategic sourcing decisions, long-lead material planning, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Assist in forecasting demand, evaluating supplier capacity, and managing supply continuity.
  • Serve as the department’s subject matter expert and functional lead for the Epicor ERP system.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system workflows, data integrity, reporting, and transaction accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reporting tools, and analytics to support operational decision-making.
  • AI Integration & Automation
  • Partner with Corporate Purchasing and IT teams to identify, develop, and implement AI-driven solutions within Epicor and related systems.
  • Drive automation of manual or repetitive supply chain processes, including: Automated late-line alerts Predictive cycle count scheduling Demand forecasting Inventory anomaly detection Supplier risk monitoring
  • Evaluate emerging technologies that improve supply chain visibility, responsiveness, and efficiency.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory reduction, service level improvement, cost savings, and process standardization.
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, or other problem-solving methodologies to eliminate waste and improve workflow.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with Operations, Finance, Engineering, and Corporate Supply Chain teams.
  • Provide leadership through coaching, training, and mentoring to foster accountability and professional growth within the team.
  • Recommend strategic improvements that align with organizational growth objectives and operational excellence initiatives.
