About The Position

The Utilities Division is responsible for public health and safety, as well as safeguarding the environment, by providing crucial safe water and wastewater services. This position is part of the team that provides services necessary for human health, economic stability, and overall societal well-being. At the core of the mission of providing these services includes commitment to providing excellent customer service to our citizens, business partners, regulatory agencies, and other county divisions. The Inventory Control Supervisor oversees the efficient receipt, storage, value-adding servicing, and dispatch a wide range of parts, supplies, materials, and equipment. This includes managing the warehouses in compliance with Division policies and vision, optimizing workflows, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Prepares budget; Trains and evaluate staff; coordinates with internal and external auditors; and develop and implement policies and procedures relevant to warehouse operations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and distribution processes.
  • Knowledge of procurement practices, contract administration, and public purchasing procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, codes, and policies related to warehousing and procurement.
  • Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of warehouse management procedures and industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of warehouse Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and performance tracking methods.
  • Ability to plan, direct, and manage warehouse operations effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to develop procurement procedures and programs that maximize the use of County funds.
  • Ability to analyze budget, operational, and technical reports.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate staff reports and related documentation.
  • Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.

  • Graduate of accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field, and five to six (5 - 6) years of inventory management experience, including two (2) years supervisory experience.
  • Must possess a valid forklift certification.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to secure a valid Florida driver’s license within 30 days of employment within this classification.
  • Must have OSHA 30 hours certification or the ability to complete within 3 months.
  • Standby and on call rotation are required for emergency work in this classification.
  • All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an emergency.
  • During an emergency, employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution, and maintenance operations.
  • Ensure efficient and effective warehouse and inventory control processes.
  • Monitor daily operations to maintain productivity and service levels.
  • Ensure compliance with all warehousing, handling, shipping, and procurement laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Ensure all procurement activities adhere to legal standards and professional business ethics.
  • Oversee major purchases and contracts, including formal and informal bidding processes.
  • Administer annual service contracts and ensure proper execution and compliance.
  • Coordinate procurement activities to support operational needs.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, external clients, vendors, and suppliers regarding supplies, contracts, and issue resolution.
  • Serve as a liaison to resolve operational and contractual issues.
  • Exercise direct supervision over assigned supervisory, technical, and administrative support personnel.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to ensure staff performance and development.
  • Produce regular reports, statistics, and performance metrics.
  • Monitor operational performance and recommend improvements.
  • Negotiate and resolve significant and potentially controversial issues.
  • Address complex operational and contractual challenges effectively.
