About The Position

Works under the supervision of the Materials Manager. The Inventory Control Specialist's primary job function is to fill and distribute departmental orders and emergency orders, utilizing hand held computers to PAR level all supplies at hospital daily, and manages daily back order process through ORMED's back order audit system. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required
  • BMVL required (Must maintain eligibility to drive as determined by SOMC insurance carriers)
  • BLS/AED training course within 90 days of hire required
  • Warehouse inventory control experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily PAR leveling activities in the departments (Surgery, nursing units, ED, RT) by utilizing hand held computers to scan appropriate items and determine quantity and replenish.
  • Fills and distributes emergency orders, department orders, and par level replenishment and manages back orders.
  • Weekend on-call and off-hours to cover essential warehouse functions.
  • Assists in determining inventory levels based on usage through perpetual system.
  • Creates and maintains shelf labeling for stocked inventories.
  • Maintains a clean and organized medical/surgical supply environment at warehouse and maintains a clean utility room and area serviced.
  • Assures all materials handling equipment is maintained in a safe and proper working condition.
  • Rotates inventory in warehouse and every department serviced to avoid expired products. Returns slow moving items to keep inventory moving and not tie up shelves.
  • Operates hospital computerized postage system daily.
  • Certified to use motorized pallet jack and roll lifts to move large items.
  • Responsible for all SOMC off-site file storage. Utilizes in-house record storage application to add files as needed and purge when appropriate.
  • Delivers IV solutions to Pharmacy and puts away daily.
  • Utilizes Sxanpro inventory management system for scanning PAR level areas to manage expiration dates and item recalls.
  • Collaborates with Nurse Managers and other clinical leadership to adjust PAR levels and stocking / ordering preferences. May use independent judgment to recommend PAR level adjustments.
  • Responsible for maintaining barcode labeling in all PAR areas.
  • Assists Distribution Coordinators when needed.
  • Assists putting away stock carts daily.
  • Conducts downtime cycle counts of warehouse inventory.
  • Performs annual physical inventory.
  • Fills in for Distribution Driver if needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
