About The Position

The Inventory Control Specialist I manages inventory programs to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with corporate objectives. The role oversees inventory analysis, cycle count programs, and reporting, while identifying opportunities to improve inventory turns and optimize purchasing strategies. It also supports product transfers, variance reconciliation, and process improvements to maintain operational excellence. The position is in Austin, Texas, and is described as a first-shift role.

Requirements

• Strong presentation skills at all levels.
• Knowledge of cost accounting principles, procedures, and standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Strong Excel and Access skills.
• Working knowledge of an MRP/ERP system.
• Ability to collaborate in a team environment across organizational levels and between sites.
• Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of inventory analyst experience.

Nice To Haves

• APICS certification.
• Cost accounting experience.
• Manufacturing experience as a scheduler or planner.
• Experience with the Visual MRP/ERP system.

Responsibilities

• Manage inventory programs, including inventory estimates and analyses, maintenance of tracked metrics, reporting to management, and resolution of inventory issues.
• Proactively increase inventory turns by customer product and meet corporate goals.
• Recommend purchasing strategies, inventory disposition, and inventory management approaches.
• Monitor purchase orders at a macro level for over-commitments, cancellations, and push-outs.
• Manage the cycle count program, including reconciliation, metrics, and outside audits.
• Control engineering change notices (ECNs) and follow up on disposition of affected material.
• Perform final review and reconciliation of work order variances and closure.
• Coordinate product transfers to other company manufacturing sites.
