About The Position

Under general direction, is responsible for managing, planning, and coordinating activities relating to inventory control, warehouse management, or storeroom management; performs related duties as required. This role involves managing, planning, and coordinating work activities related to inventory control, purchase of stock, warehouse management, or storeroom management, utilizing a computer, tablet, or other devices for record keeping. The position supervises and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in the requisitioning, issuance, or stocking of materials and supplies used by a City department or large division. It also involves developing inventory control procedures and coordinating physical inventory activities to ensure that real property and personal property within the department or division are accounted for on an annual basis. The role includes developing or establishing procedures and policies governing the overall operation of warehousing or storekeeping activities, and ensuring that personal property within the department or division is labeled (brass tagged) with applicable asset numbers. The Inventory Control Manager prepares and ensures the preparation of various forms or procurement documentation such as requisitions, purchase orders, encumbrances, and others, and communicates with vendors to resolve issues or discrepancies. They ensure that invoices are reconciled against packing slips for received inventory and that invoices are processed for payment in a timely manner. The position oversees the processing of obsolete, idle, or excess stock which may include regulated disposal, auction, or repurposing to another location. Additionally, the role maintains and preserves the security and safety of the warehouse, storerooms, and their contents, and assures the accuracy of the inventory levels related to stock reorder points.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree and two (2) years of inventory control, warehousing, or storekeeping experience
  • Additional years of experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Successfully complete all phases of the testing process (multiple-choice/forced-choice Experience Evaluation)
  • One or more interviews
  • Criminal background check
  • Pre-employment drug test

  • Eligible list for this classification will remain on the eligible list for two years, unless the eligible list is replaced prior to or extended beyond the two years.
