About The Position

Valdese Weavers is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company with over 100 years of history, operating as one of the world's largest woven textile mills. The company designs and manufactures residential and contract-grade fabrics for a diverse clientele including furniture manufacturers, fabric distributors, and large retailers. This role is responsible for sorting returned yarn from the Weave Room, organizing it into buggies for return to yarn bins, and maintaining accurate inventory records.

Requirements

  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Must be able to discern colors and pass a color blindness test.
  • Must be willing and able to work six to seven days per week when scheduled.
  • Must have a license to operate PIT equipment (e.g., cherry picker).
  • Stay current with all returned yarn.
  • 450-500 scans into SAP per 8 hr. shift.

Nice To Haves

  • Training done in-house for PIT equipment operation.

Responsibilities

  • Sort through all returned yarn from Weave Room and organize into buggies to be put back into yarn bins.
  • Take out bags, small or empty cones from returned yarn buggies.
  • Scan yarn labels for location and place yarn into buggies to be put up into bins.
  • Place white yarn into bags before placing in a buggy.
  • Label buggies with the correct row number and High/Low area designation.
  • Keep the computer work area clean and the floor swept.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned by the Supervisor, including all 5S assignments.
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner following established guidelines.
  • Report all job-related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
  • Actively participate in safety programs.
  • Maintain personal attendance practices to meet established company goals.
  • Maintain personal work habits that meet the demands and stresses of the job.
  • Meet deadlines and production quotas.
  • Get along with co-workers.
  • Follow instructions, including shift start/stop times and break schedules.
  • Work scheduled overtime.
