About The Position

Planet is seeking an experienced, analytical Inventory Analyst to drive physical stock accuracy, lead cycle count programs, and optimize inventory workflows. Working with minimal guidance, the analyst will apply inventory management principles to investigate complex variances, improve stockroom procedures, and interpret ERP data. The role connects supply chain, quality, and engineering to support accurate reporting and material control across raw materials, work in progress (WIP), and finished goods. This is a full-time, in-office position based in Planet’s San Francisco office five days per week. The position requires access to export-controlled information, so employment is contingent on the candidate being able to access all applicable information without additional export licensing.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of relevant inventory control, cycle counting, or stockroom analysis experience; a bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent career experience.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and apply sound judgment and analytical skills to resolve complex, varied inventory issues.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and email communication.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems such as NetSuite or Oracle and WMS tools, with a track record of maintaining complete, audit-ready data integrity.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, safely operate ladders or reach trucks, and remain on one’s feet for extended periods in a dynamic environment.
  • Attention to detail, basic numerical literacy, and organizational discipline.
  • Willingness to support flexible schedules, non-standard shifts, overtime, or weekends as production needs dictate.
  • Experience managing raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced hands-on experience executing complex inventory transactions, reporting, and reconciliations in NetSuite ERP.
  • Component-level familiarity with high-mix PCBA inventory, including resistors, capacitors, ICs, connectors, and hardware revisions.
  • Direct experience preparing datasets for and hosting external financial inventory auditors.
  • Experience in high-reliability manufacturing environments governed by flight hardware standards, lot/serial traceability, ESD/FOD prevention, and 5S frameworks.
  • Experience refining inventory control procedures and adapting standard frameworks to improve operational workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and refine daily and weekly cycle count programs according to ABC categories; analyze variance trends, identify root causes, and adapt counting strategies.
  • Lead physical inventory reconciliation for internal control reviews and external compliance audits; evaluate conflicting data and establish audit trails in ERP/WMS systems.
  • Oversee the end-to-end material review board (MRB) process, partnering with Quality, Engineering, and Purchasing to analyze non-conforming stock, determine root causes, and carry out dispositions such as scrap, rework, or obsolete-revision handling.
  • Design, organize, and improve bin, shelf, and rack locations to increase stockroom efficiency and inventory velocity while maintaining 5S compliance.
  • Research complex inventory discrepancies, assess transactional histories, and develop solutions when standard guidelines do not fully apply.
  • Monitor raw material, WIP, and finished goods levels to identify anomalies, prevent shortages, minimize overages, and maintain balanced inventory.
  • Provide technical guidance to adjacent teams and support kitting workflows and ad-hoc logistics operations during high-demand production periods.
  • Provide ad-hoc support for kitting activities and minor logistics functions as operational needs require.
