About The Position

Join the winning team at Plaza Tire Service! In business since 1963, with 94 store locations. We are a growing business and a leader in our industry. We are seeking a full-time Inventory Accountant at our Corporate Office in Cape Girardeau, MO. This is a salary position reporting directly to our Regional Controller. You will work directly with the existing accounting team, as well as, members of our executive management team. This position requires great attention to detail, excellent understanding of GAAP accounting principles, and a friendly and professional personality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 2-5+ years of accounting experience desired.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and corporate accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems. Experience with Great Plains accounting software is beneficial.
  • Critical, analytical, and creative thinking to identify and solve problems.
  • Experience working with large volumes of data and documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
  • Ability to work and communicate with across departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Great Plains accounting software is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile inventory accounts in the general ledger
  • Monitor inventory transactions, including purchases, transfers, and adjustments
  • Perform regular inventory audits and cycle counts; investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end inventory reports and journal entries
  • Collaborate with warehouse and operations teams to improve inventory controls and processes
  • Perform variance analysis on income and expense accounts for reasonableness.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reports, and required documentation.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting policies.
  • Assist in financial data collection, including gathering, organizing, and validating information from various sources (e.g. accounting systems, departments, vendors) to support financial reporting.
  • Drive automation and efficiency in reporting and close cycles; support ERP enhancements and system implementations.
  • Other ad-hoc reporting or accounting related duties that may be assigned.
