About The Position

Tutoring for the Introduction to Music Studies class (MUTH 11100) an average of 2 hours per week in the fall semester. Ithaca College’s student employment program offers meaningful experiential learning opportunities that develop transferable skills sought by employers across various industries. These positions allow students to apply classroom knowledge in real-world professional settings, fostering both personal and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Outstanding academic achievement as evidenced by GPA
  • Outstanding achievement in aural skills and music theory courses, with grades of A or A- in each course taken
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work during posted hours
  • Required strong experience with music technology, including facility with Canvas, Microsoft 365, Audacity, Spotify, and MuseScore
  • Personal qualities conducive to one-on-one conferences, such as a friendly, approachable manner; patience; good listening abilities; and a sense of maturity and responsibility

  • Formal or informal experience teaching/tutoring music theory suggested
