About The Position

Grand Canyon University is seeking an Intramural Sports Official to support the university’s mission through the Campus Recreation department. The position assists the Intramural Manager and Intramural Coordinator with programs offered by Intramural Sports. The official officiates contests, supports game logistics and site preparation, promotes policies and programs, verifies participant eligibility, and helps maintain a friendly, customer-service-oriented environment. Applicants must meet Grand Canyon University’s student employment eligibility requirements: enrollment as a full-time student in a bachelor’s or master’s program, a minimum GPA of 2.0 for bachelor’s students or 3.0 for master’s students, and good financial and academic (SAP) standing. Pay is minimum wage. The anticipated end date is June 30, 2027.

• Thorough knowledge of Intramural Sports policies and procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of the officiating aspects of Intramural Sports.
• Ability to deal with difficult people professionally.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Must be enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor’s or master’s program.
• Must maintain a GPA of at least 2.0 as a bachelor’s student or 3.0 as a master’s student.
• Must maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the university.

Responsibilities

• Officiate intramural contests.
• Assist with pre-game and post-game logistics and administrative functions.
• Assist with preparation and inspection of the game site.
• Understand emergency and evacuation procedures.
• Provide positive public relations, promote programs, and educate participants about policies.
• Verify participant eligibility.
• Attend all officials training clinics.
• Provide a friendly, upbeat, customer-service-oriented environment.
• Proficiently use a Fox 40 whistle.
