About The Position

This position is responsible for greeting and assisting internal and external customers, managing client check-ins and updates, answering phones, verifying client information for eligibility, processing records requests and referrals, collecting fees, issuing receipts, preparing billings, running end-of-day reports, balancing cash drawers, and preparing weekly deposits according to NCHD policy.

  • Ability to perform tasks common to their paraprofessional position.
  • Ability to recognize the limitation of one’s own knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to recognize areas of their own practice in need of improvement.
  • Ability to teach other staff in the theory and practice of their positions.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication and ability to apply them.
  • Ability to plan, organize and effectively carry out work assignments.
  • Knowledge of clinic clerical practices, policies and procedures and the ability to apply them.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience in a dental clerical position
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Proficient in Eaglesoft or Dentrix dental software

Responsibilities

  • Greets and assists internal and external customers in a courteous and respectful manner that presents a positive public image.
  • Makes sure clients sign in and their information is updated per visit.
  • Checks clients in, reschedules clients, and notifies clients of any appointment changes when necessary.
  • Answers the phone, screens calls, takes messages, and transfers calls.
  • Verifies and collects client and family income, residency, and insurance status.
  • Interviews clients to determine economic indigence for eligibility of dental health care services provided by NCHD based on established criteria.
  • Inputs client services into HSM and the electronic oral health record.
  • Processes records requests and dental referrals.
  • Collects fees and issues receipts.
  • Prepares billings making sure eligibility is verified and attached to each billing.
  • Runs end-of-day reports, balances cash drawer, and prepares weekly deposits per NCHD policy.
