About The Position

The Interviewing Clerk OPS is a paraprofessional position in the Florida Department of Children & Families’ Office of Economic Self-Sufficiency. The primary responsibility is to review applications to collect demographic information and/or provide information and referral services. The position is suited to someone with strong computer and data-entry and organizational skills who can work to tight deadlines. The role is located in Vero Beach and pays $34,760 annually. As a State of Florida Other Personal Services (OPS) employee, the employee may be eligible for insurance benefits and is automatically enrolled in a qualified retirement plan.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of clerical or public contact experience. College education from an accredited institution or vocational/technical training may substitute at the rate of 30 semester, 45 quarter, or 720 classroom hours for each year of required experience.
Complete State and National criminal history checks and receive Agency approval before beginning employment.

Nice To Haves

Ability to speak, read, or write Spanish, Creole, French, or another foreign language may be considered based on Agency needs.

Responsibilities

Determine eligibility for expedited food assistance services.
Explain eligibility to applicants and recipients applying for or receiving public assistance.
Enter client data into a database based on caller intake information.
Maintain necessary files and records.
Perform general clerical duties, including entering data for clients applying for public assistance benefits.
Answer phones.
Use a photocopy machine, scanner, and other office equipment.
Conduct application registration.
Schedule appointments.
Conduct intake interviews.
Conduct statewide clearance and reconcile discrepancies for all household members.
Maintain office email accounts and provide clerical backup for units.
