About The Position

The Vancouver General Hospital Division of Respiratory Medicine is seeking an Interventional Respirologist to join their collegial Respirology group. The collaborative team offers rapid access to diagnostic workup and endobronchial and pleural therapy for patients with known or suspected lung cancer. The successful candidate will provide interventional pulmonology services within Vancouver General Hospital and support colleagues at BC Cancer Vancouver and St. Paul's Hospital when required. The role will involve participation in the General Respirology ward and consult service, including on-call coverage and outpatient follow-up. Outpatient clinic space is available in the Centre for Lung Health Clinic adjacent to the hospital. The VGH Respirology Division has strong subspecialty and research expertise in various areas, and it is a teaching program within the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. Vancouver General Hospital is a major tertiary care center with specialized programs and a full Thoracic Surgery Division.

Requirements

  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) – Full
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) – Mandatory
  • Royal College fellowship in Internal Medicine and Respirology with additional fellowship training in Interventional Pulmonology.
  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency in interventional pulmonology procedures including navigation bronchoscopy, radial and linear EBUS, cryotherapy, electrocautery, brachytherapy, and pleural procedures such as indwelling pleural catheter insertions.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Experience in medical pleuroscopy and robotic bronchoscopy.
  • Expertise in management of screen detected or incidental pulmonary nodules using malignancy risk prediction tools and volumetric measurements.
  • An interest in clinical research is encouraged.
