The Interventional Radiology Technologist performs interventional radiology examinations on patients based on department procedures and under the direction of appropriate supervisor. This role directly assists the Radiologist during all aspects of interventional radiology procedures, is responsible for the continuity of care of patients while they are in the interventional radiology section, and communicates clinical observations to the Radiologist. The technologist demonstrates competency in RIS/HIS modules, injects contrast according to policy, and provides educational information to patients. Coverage for CT biopsies may be necessary, and students may be trained if applicable. The role requires maintaining responsibility for own professional development and adhering to downtime procedures.
