About The Position

We are seeking an Interventional Radiology (IR) Physician to support the Veteran community in the San Antonio, TX area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals. The role involves both direct patient care, including procedures and consultations, and non-direct patient care activities such as quality improvement meetings and administrative tasks. Requirements

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Board Certified per the American Board of Radiology (ABR).
  • Dual board certification in Interventional Radiology and Diagnostic Radiology (IR/DR).
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Must complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with the VA is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform direct patient care procedures.
  • Attend scheduled clinics.
  • Provide notification of test results.
  • Provide consultation with and instruction to referring physicians regarding appropriate indications for Interventional radiologic procedures.
  • Determine the appropriate course of treatment and communicate in person or by phone with the referring clinicians.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement Meetings.
  • Attend Staff Meetings.
  • Engage in Peer Reviews.
  • Attend Specialized Meetings.
  • Complete QA/QI documentation.
  • Ensure Patient Safety Compliance and Reporting.
  • Provide on-call and call-back coverage when the facility clinic is closed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
