About The Position

We are seeking an Interventional Radiology (IR) Physician to support the Veteran community in the San Antonio, TX area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals. The role involves direct patient care procedures, attending scheduled clinics, providing notification of test results, and consulting with referring physicians. A portion of the time will also be dedicated to non-direct patient care activities such as Quality Improvement Meetings, Staff Meetings, Peer Reviews, Specialized Meetings, QA/QI documentation, and Patient Safety Compliance and Reporting.

Requirements

Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Board Certified per the American Board of Radiology (ABR). Dual board certification in Interventional Radiology and Diagnostic Radiology (IR/DR).
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Must complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience with the VA is a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform direct patient care procedures.
Attend scheduled clinics.
Provide notification of test results.
Provide consultation with and instruction to referring physicians regarding appropriate indications for Interventional radiologic procedures.
Determine the appropriate course of treatment and communicate in person or by phone with the referring clinicians.
Participate in Quality Improvement Meetings.
Attend Staff Meetings.
Engage in Peer Reviews.
Participate in Specialized Meetings.
Complete QA/QI documentation.
Ensure Patient Safety Compliance and Reporting.
