Organizes, prioritizes, and monitors daily work activity to ensure that complete, accurate, and compliant chart preparation and insurance authorization for Interventional Radiology procedures has been performed prior to expected visit. This role involves contacting patients/guarantors by phone to schedule procedures and obtain/verify demographic and insurance information, making necessary updates. The coordinator must maintain acceptable accuracy and productivity rates, documenting all information in the appropriate system. A key responsibility is ensuring all pre-certification requirements for Interventional Radiology procedures are met timely, noting authorization numbers and following up on missing ones. If authorization cannot be obtained, the patient will be contacted 24 hours prior to service to advise them of their financial responsibility. The role also includes preparing the patient chart with all necessary pre-procedure testing, History & Physicals, consent, and physician’s order in preparation for the patient’s arrival.
