About The Position

The primary focus of the Intervention Specialist is to provide support for school age scholars who need extra behavioral support in continuing their education. The Specialist will work with assigned scholars by keeping them engaged in the learning process, which will lead to school success. The Specialist will also work with parents and families as requested by the principal or Public Safety Office personnel.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
A minimum of one semester of post-Secondary course work at an institute of hiring learning.
Ability to effectively function as a professional team member
Possesses high level of communication skills (oral and written).
Must be able to deal with the multiplicity of an urban community

Nice To Haves

Previous experience working in educational setting.
Experience working with at-risk students
Experience in education, criminal justice, social work and/or human

Responsibilities

Assist with team approach (student, family, teachers, specialist, and principal) to assess appropriate intervention
Visit with identified students to identify suitable options and help resolve
Assist students with being proactive in making choices that will lead to their
Develop a positive relationship with students and school
Work as part of the school team and assist with creating a safe and orderly en
Assist other staff members in monitoring the halls and encouraging students to attend
Make telephone calls to parents and home visits if
Participate with the school team in reviewing student data on attendance, suspensions, and expulsion and compare to last year’s data.
