About The Position

The SDSU HealthLINK Center for Transdisciplinary Health Research (SDSU HealthLINK Center) aims to inspire transformational and collaborative research that promotes health and well-being for all people and communities. This position supports the SDSU HealthLINK Center by furthering the enhancement of research infrastructure and services at SDSU and its partnered organizations. This position performs both technical and coordination activities in the Intervention Methods Group (IMG) to provide researchers with support and training in the implementation and intervention methods. This position is key to the success of the IMG.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four year university
  • One-year of experience in technical research or statistical work experience
  • Experience with developing and/or adapting behavioral interventions (community-based, worksite clinical, family, individual), including dissemination and implementation science.
  • Experience conducting and analyzing data from formative research activities, such as focus groups and in-depth interviews.
  • Experience conducting workshops, webinars, and other types of training.
  • Knowledge of project management to include developing and monitoring goals, priorities, needs, and assets.
  • Strong leadership skills, providing effective direction and supervision to individuals and small groups.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and interact effectively with a variety of people within and across organizations.
  • Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, SPSS, NVIVO, Endnote
  • Ability to independently interpret a wide variety of complex policies and procedures integral to the position.
  • Highly motivated self-starter and independent learner, with a high energy level and strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent (or professional) written and oral communication skills, including English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to display flexibility and handle multiple work priorities and interruptions.
  • Well organized, able to meet deadlines, detail-oriented, and possess good judgment and common sense.
  • Ability to work variable hours, including late afternoons/evenings and some weekends, as needed for activities in the community.
  • Demonstrate a high level of cross-cultural sensitivity.

Nice To Haves

  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in technical or administrative assignments, two years of which would be at the Program Specialist I level.
  • Master’s degree in public health, psychology, sociology, social work, or other relevant field
  • Fluent in both English/Spanish-language reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of program planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation
  • Experience working with student trainees at different levels, ranging from high school students to post-doctoral fellows.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and facilitate the RCC-IMG meetings.
  • Develop formative research guides (in English and Spanish), including for the development, translation, and adaptation of evidence-based interventions (EBIs) for diverse populations and settings.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Cost Recovery Services for intervention-related research, including training for intervention mapping, in-depth interviews, focus groups, and rapid qualitative analytic approaches.
  • Collaborate in the development, translation, and adaptation of EBIs for the Center Research Projects, Investigator Development Core pilot projects, and other projects through our Cost Recovery Services.
  • Conduct formative research (in English and Spanish) and assist with the analysis and interpretation of such data.
  • Assist in assessing the feasibility and acceptability of community-based and technology-based intervention methods.
  • Develop and test protocols for assessing intervention fidelity across community-based, clinic-based, organization-based, and technology-based interventions.
  • Develop protocols for packaging and cataloging EBIs to be archived in the Center repository and for dissemination.
  • Prepare and maintain materials developed within the IMG for inclusion in the Center’s Health Science Knowledge Repository.
  • Contribute to the annual progress report and participate in all Center evaluation activities.
  • Support the Center’s Human Subject Research Ethics training, including designing, developing, and producing a variety of materials that are user-friendly and accessible to researcher and participants, at appropriate literacy levels and with approachable graphics, to facilitate better understanding the research process and informed decision making regarding participation in research and the parameters around ethical usage of sensitive secondary data, data sharing, incorporating Community Partner input, and coordinating with graphic design service vendor(s).
  • Support Center leadership in identifying and expanding new Cost Recovery Services.
  • Maintain routine communication to ensure coordination and implementation of assigned activities are on target and within established deadlines.
  • Prepare reports, memos, letters, and presentations, and deliver presentations on behalf of the Center.
  • Supervise students and volunteer interns as needed.
  • Attend training and meetings as needed, including all Center meetings and RCC Coordinator Status meetings.
  • Comply with all Center and SDSURF policies and procedures.
  • Supervise students, interns, or research assistants
  • Other Center duties as assigned.
