Davis Behavioral Health (DBH) is committed to being a vital part of the community and provides internship and practicum opportunities for students in Social Work programs at accredited universities. DBH is an approved field site for Bachelor's of Social Work (BSW), Master's of Social Worker (MSW), and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) programs. DBH is also an approved placement site for psychiatry residents for the University of Utah and A.T. Still University. These practicum/internship opportunities are competitive to ensure a high-quality educational experience and a good fit for the agency, as DBH historically offers employment to many interns upon graduation. The number of slots is determined annually by the clinical leadership team, considering the availability of field supervisors. DBH currently does not accept interns from other programs, including high school students. For the 2026/27 academic year, DBH will only be accepting applications for students enrolled in specific programs and universities: BSW from Weber State University; MSW from Weber State University, Utah State University, University of Utah, and Boise State University; PMHNP from Weber State University, University of Utah, Rocky Mountain, and Maryville University. Students are required to provide DBH with contact information for their practicum advisor to ensure DBH can meet program requirements and staff can fulfill field supervisor obligations. Student interns working at DBH for more than 4 weeks are classified as non-exempt employees. Psychiatry residents are classified as contractors. Internships of 4 weeks or less are classified as volunteers and are not compensated. DBH restricts internship opportunities to Monday through Friday with limited evening hours due to supervision availability. All interns placed at DBH are paid. 2nd Year and Advanced Standing MSW Practicum students receive a $3,750 per semester stipend. PMHNP students are compensated at $18.75 per hour. 1st Year MSW students, BSW students, and other bachelor-level interns are compensated at $10.00 per hour.
