About The Position

Chestnut Health Systems is offering a Practicum/Internship opportunity for master’s-level students seeking hands-on clinical experience in substance use and behavioral health treatment. This placement provides direct experience working with adults in residential and intensive outpatient programs, with opportunities to engage across a variety of populations including children (age 5+), adolescents, adults, and seniors. This is an in-person position with exposure to both clinical and program-level work. Chestnut Health Systems™ is a leading provider of integrated health care services. Requirements

  • Must be a second-year master’s student in a Clinical-Counseling or related program
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism, responsibility, and willingness to learn
  • Willingness to participate in direct care activities after completing required trainings
  • Ability to engage in supervision and incorporate feedback into practice
  • Some evening availability may be required

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling under supervision
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate psychoeducational and skills-based groups
  • Complete assessments, including biopsychosocial evaluations, and assist with treatment planning
  • Participate in client intake, case management, discharge planning, and referral services
  • Support crisis intervention and provide linkage to community resources
  • Deliver services in residential and outpatient treatment settings
  • Document services in a timely and professional manner using electronic systems
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and participate in team meetings
  • Engage in regular supervision and apply feedback to clinical practice
  • Participate in program development, evaluation, and training opportunities
  • Gain exposure to macro-level work including administration, policy, advocacy, and research
  • Work with diverse populations across areas such as substance use, mental health, housing/homelessness, public health, and criminal justice
  • Maintain professionalism, responsibility, and openness to feedback in all aspects of the internship
  • Follow all program guidelines, including no client transportation
