About The Position

Project Restore Brownsville is a community-based violence intervention and prevention initiative designed to support young people at elevated risk of involvement in gun violence. The program combines intensive case management, mentoring, trauma informed group work, and workforce development opportunities to stabilize participants, reduce violent behavior, and support long-term positive outcomes. Project Restore operates as an enhancement of existing BIVO work, strengthening continuity of care, supervision, and participant engagement across systems. Position Overview: What The Internship Coordinator Does: The person filling this position is expected, under close supervision, to develop, coordinate and support meaningful internship and workforce exposure opportunities for Project Restore Brownsville participants. The Internship Coordinator builds relationships with community partners and employers while preparing participants to successfully engage in structured work-based learning experiences. Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures. Comply with all Federal, State, City, and CAMBA security and privacy policies to protect the confidentiality of individual health information. Ensure the safety and security of all participants by following program protocols and procedures, including supervision, accident and incident reporting.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in workforce development, education, human services, or a related field required.
  • Minimum Experience and Skills Required: Minimum of 2 years of experience in workforce development, job placement, or youth employment programming.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with employers and community partners.
  • Knowledge of workplace readiness training and employment pathways.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with justice-involved or system-impacted youth or young adults preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local businesses, community organizations, and institutions to create internship placements.
  • Identify internship opportunities aligned with participant interests, strengths, and readiness levels.
  • Conduct workplace readiness assessments for participants prior to placement.
  • Prepare participants for internships through orientation, expectations setting, and soft skills coaching.
  • Coordinate internship schedules and ensure participants meet required hours and expectations.
  • Maintain regular communication with internship site supervisors to monitor participant performance and attendance.
  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for participants during internship placements.
  • Address attendance, conduct, or performance issues in collaboration with mentors and case managers.
  • Track and document internship participation, progress, and outcomes.
  • Ensure that internship placements are safe, supportive, and developmentally appropriate.
  • Facilitate career exploration activities and exposure to different career pathways.
  • Assist participants with resume building, job applications, and professional skill development.
  • Support transitions from internships to employment, education, or training opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Case Managers and Peer Advocates to align internship participation with service plans.
  • Other duties as assigned.
