About The Position

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain a 360-degree view of culinary operations within Universal Orlando Resort. Interns will work closely with team members, senior management, administrators, and executives, reporting directly to an Executive Chef. The program is designed to provide hands-on experience and insight into the higher-level strategy behind operations, offering extensive networking and project management opportunities in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Junior or above.
  • Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required.
  • A transcript is required upon application.
  • Recent graduates will not be eligible for this program.
  • Must be efficient in Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and organization.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Superior written & verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously and/or in teams.
  • Consistent attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knife skills preferred.
  • Preferred majors include: Baking and Pastry, Hospitality Management.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside Universal Orlando Resort Team members to gain hands-on experience in a diverse, high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Complete hands-on training in full service, quick service, and fast casual dining locations within Food & Beverage.
  • Work in Universal Orlando Resort's state-of-the-art Production Kitchen and Bakery.
  • Collaborate with Research and Development on an end-of-program project, potentially creating a dish for marquee events or a seasonal offering.
  • Present the developed dish to the VP of Culinary Operations and the Executive Chef Team.
  • Partner with other departments such as Human Resources, Finance, and Food Equipment Techs.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy and procedures.
