About The Position

The Credit Manager directs and oversees the credit analysis function for International Trade Finance, supervising the Credit Analyst(s) and reviewing and validating their credit, country, and industry/sector analyses before submission. The Credit Manager manages and monitors the overall credit portfolio, country limits and exposures, and industry/sector concentrations, and ensures adherence to the Credit Policy and Procedures Manuals and applicable regulations. The Credit Manager presents all credit, country, and industry/sector risk reports to the Credit Committee (Directors’ Loan Committee) and Board of Directors, where applicable, and serves as the primary point of contact between the credit analysis function and the Committee.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • Six (6) to eight (8) or more years of progressive credit, lending, or credit-risk experience, including supervisory or management responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience presenting credit and risk matters to a credit committee, senior management, and/or a board of directors.
  • Advanced financial-statement analysis, credit underwriting, and portfolio-management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of country, industry, and sector risk and of trade finance products and structures.
  • Strong working knowledge of BSA/AML requirements, credit documentation, and collateral perfection (liens and security interests).
  • Proven leadership, supervisory, and team-development ability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present complex credit and risk matters clearly to a credit committee and the Board.
  • Sound judgment in approving, recommending, and escalating credit decisions within delegated authority.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and relevant credit/banking systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree and/or professional certification (e.g., CFA) preferred.
  • International trade finance and LATAM & Caribbean market experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review, validate, and approve—within delegated authority—the credit analyses, spreadsheets, and risk reports prepared by the Credit Analyst prior to submission.
  • Present all credit, country, and industry/sector risk reports and approval packages to the Credit Committee (Directors’ Loan Committee) and Board of Directors, where applicable.
  • Manage and monitor the overall credit portfolio, approved country limits and exposures, and industry/sector concentrations; ensure approved limits are observed and that exceptions are identified, documented, and escalated.
  • Provide senior Management and the Head of International Trade Finance with portfolio reporting for review, monitoring, and control of the entire credit portfolio and of country and sector exposures.
  • Establish, review, and maintain credit analysis standards, templates, and workflow; ensure that all credit, country, and industry/sector files are complete, current, and properly maintained.
  • Oversee the review and validation of documents submitted for funding draws and/or requests, and the preparation of funding disbursements and payment schedules relating to credit facilities.
  • Ensure that all liens and security interests in assignments and collateralized assets are perfected and enforceable, when applicable.
  • Train, mentor, assign work to, and evaluate the performance of the Credit Analyst(s).
  • Perform any other related duties requested by Management.
  • Ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and all applicable Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.
  • Adhere to all Bank policies and procedures, including the Credit Policy Manual and Credit Procedures Manual.
  • Adhere to all applicable Federal and State laws and regulations.
