About The Position

Barnes & Thornburg LLP is seeking a paralegal to join our Washington, D.C. office. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized and detail-oriented paralegal with an interest in international trade, regulatory matters, white collar litigation, and administrative proceedings to support attorneys on sophisticated matters affecting global business operations. The role offers meaningful responsibility, close collaboration with attorneys and clients, and the opportunity to support both the firm’s international trade team and litigation attorneys in the office on a range of complex matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate required
  • 2+ years of paralegal experience preferred, ideally in international trade, litigation, regulatory, government investigations, or other complex legal matters
  • Experience supporting filings, document management, and matter coordination in a law firm or similar professional environment
  • Familiarity with administrative proceedings or regulatory matters is a plus; experience with filings before government agencies is helpful but not required
  • Strong research, drafting, proofreading, organizational, and document management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize effectively, and adapt to changing demands
  • Meticulous attention to detail, sound judgment, and strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys in international trade matters, including regulatory compliance, litigation, administrative proceedings, transactions, investigations, and enforcement matters
  • Prepare, organize, and file submissions with government agencies and courts, and maintain related filings, correspondence, and supporting documentation
  • Assist with drafting, reviewing, and finalizing correspondence, memoranda, regulatory submissions, court filings, and client communications, which may include cite checking and exhibit preparation
  • Manage case files, deadlines, calendars, and workflows to ensure matters progress efficiently and accurately
  • Coordinate document collections, reviews, and productions, and maintain databases, spreadsheets, and other tracking resources
  • Conduct research and compile materials relating to agency and court procedures, trade regulations, factual records, and client reporting
  • Provide additional support, as needed, to litigation attorneys in the Washington, D.C. office on related disputes and other complex matters
