About The Position

Wagner College seeks an International Student Services Coordinator & Designated School Official (DSO) to join the Office of Global Education and provide comprehensive support to the College's international student population. Reporting directly to the Director of Global Education and Principal Designated School Official (PDSO), the Coordinator will support international student advising, immigration compliance, student services, programming, and the day-to-day operation of Global Education. The Coordinator will be trained and, upon meeting applicable requirements and institutional designation, serve as a Designated School Official. Given the significant number of Wagner's international students who participate in intercollegiate athletics, the Coordinator will have a particular concentration on international student-athletes and serve as a key liaison between Global Education and Athletics. The position remains a member of Global Education and provides services to Wagner's entire international student population. The position is designed to strengthen institutional capacity and continuity within Global Education by developing a second professional with comprehensive knowledge of Wagner's international student services and compliance operations. With training and experience, the Coordinator will assume increasing responsibility for routine international student matters and provide meaningful operational coverage for the Director.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Professional experience in higher education, international education, student affairs, immigration-related student services, academic advising, admissions, athletics administration, or a related area.
• Ability to meet federal eligibility requirements for designation as a DSO.
• Demonstrated interest in developing expertise in international student services and F-1 compliance.
• Strong organizational, analytical, communication, documentation, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to learn, interpret, and consistently apply detailed policies and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to handle sensitive student information with discretion and sound professional judgment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
• Strong commitment to supporting international students and their educational experience.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in higher education, international education, student affairs, counseling, education, or a related field.
• Previous experience serving as a DSO or working with SEVIS and F-1 students.
• Experience supporting international students in a college or university environment.
• Experience working with international student-athletes or collegiate Athletics.
• Familiarity with SEVP regulations and F-1 student requirements.
• Experience with international student orientation, programming, advising, or cross-cultural student support.

Responsibilities

• Provide front-line advising and support to international students regarding F-1 status, institutional requirements, enrollment, travel, employment, program completion, and other matters within the scope of the position and DSO responsibilities.
• Complete required training and, upon institutional designation, serve as a Designated School Official.
• Work closely with the Director/PDSO to develop comprehensive knowledge of Wagner's international student compliance processes and procedures.
• Assist with maintaining accurate international student information in SEVIS and College systems.
• Assist with the preparation, issuance, and maintenance of Forms I-20 and related documentation within authorized DSO responsibilities.
• Support routine processes involving travel signatures, employment authorization recommendations, program extensions, transfers, changes of educational level, and other appropriate F-1 matters.
• Monitor student records, deadlines, and enrollment information and proactively identify matters requiring student follow-up or Director review.
• Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of international student advising and compliance activity.
• Develop increasing independence in handling routine and intermediate international student matters while appropriately escalating complex or unusual cases to the Director/PDSO.
• Maintain current knowledge of SEVP guidance, federal regulations, College requirements, and emerging issues affecting F-1 students.
• Assist in maintaining Global Education policies, procedures, checklists, standard communications, and compliance calendars.
• Serve as a primary Global Education liaison to Athletics for routine international student matters.
• Develop strong working relationships with Athletics leadership, coaches, athletic compliance personnel, and student-athlete support staff.
• Provide proactive support to international student-athletes regarding documentation, arrival and check-in, enrollment requirements, travel, employment, deadlines, and maintenance of F-1 status.
• Coordinate regular communication with international student-athletes regarding important immigration and institutional requirements.
• Assist in identifying potential enrollment, documentation, or immigration concerns before they become urgent compliance issues.
• Participate in international student-athlete onboarding, orientation, and educational programming.
• Provide appropriate guidance and resources to coaches and Athletics staff regarding international student processes and when matters should be referred to Global Education.
• Track recurring international student-athlete needs and work with the Director and Athletics to improve processes and communication.
• Maintain an international student advising caseload.
• Provide individualized support to international students navigating academic, cultural, personal, and institutional transitions.
• Assist students in understanding College policies, procedures, resources, and important deadlines.
• Connect students with appropriate academic, financial, health and wellness, campus life, career, and other institutional resources.
• Facilitate cross-departmental problem solving when international students encounter institutional barriers.
• Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Registrar, Admissions, Athletics, Campus Life, Financial Aid, Human Resources, and other offices on international student matters.
• Assist with international student orientation, arrival, check-in, workshops, programming, and ongoing engagement.
• Support retention, belonging, and student-success initiatives involving international students.
• Assist the Director with the day-to-day operation of the Office of Global Education.
• Maintain calendars, student tracking, routine communications, documentation, and administrative processes associated with international student services.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, checklists, templates, and other operational resources.
• Assist with reporting, data collection, audits, accreditation-related requests, and institutional information needs.
• Assist with study abroad/global education programming and other office initiatives as assigned.
• Participate in committees, working groups, and institutional initiatives related to international education and student success.
• Develop the knowledge and experience necessary to provide increasingly independent operational coverage when the Director is unavailable.
• Perform other duties and special projects consistent with the scope and level of the position.
