About The Position

Focus may be in one of three (3) work areas with potential exposure to all through the course of the assignment: Bonding, Fabricating & Process Operation. Performs routine developmental learning assignments and applies standard solutions to problems or work situations of a routine or repetitive nature. May perform a variety of routine duties related to the work area which assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read and write the English language and learn to interpret and comprehend work instructions, blueprints and company policies and procedures and safety instructions.
  • Must be able to properly document work performed onto such documents as process planning, adhesive log sheets, Material Review Board documents, Engineering Work Orders, Change Notices, Engineering Process Specifications, technical manuals and like documentation.
  • Capable of using close tolerance measuring tools i.e. scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gauges as well as small hand tools, machinery and other similar tools.
  • Ability to complete respirator training, certification and fit test. Must be clean shaven at the respirator seal.
  • Ability to learn tasks and processes that are not relate to the primary job assignment.

  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in performing tasks associated with determining the method and sequences of operation to be followed in fabrication of parts using materials such as graphite, fiberglass, plastic, boron, flock, mat, epoxy resins, rubber and like materials.
  • Assists in planning, fabricating and building adhesive bonded assemblies of metallic and nonmetallic composite materials.
  • Fabricates composite and metal parts into subassemblies for the purpose of pre-fitting in preparation for bonding/curing in presses, ovens, and autoclaves.
  • Performs vacuum bagging for Autoclave cures up to 100 psi.
  • Learns to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications sketches, job orders, planning documents and engineering drawings.
  • Selects tooling and materials compatible with the processing techniques identified in the work instructions.
  • Performs fabrication and assembly tasks following established methods and procedures.
  • Assists in layout, pre-fit and assembly and layup of a variety of metal to metal and composite bonded assemblies.
  • May layout and mark dimensions and reference lines on material with templates or shop aides.
  • Uses hand and power tools such as hand routers, hand sanders, drills, die grinders and other like hand tools to complete the required operations.
  • Trims parts to fit and files, grinds, deburrs, bevels edges, polishes surfaces, and otherwise finishes out the material, part or assembly to specifications.
  • Assembles detail parts into subassemblies and complete assembles using written and verbal work instructions.
  • Installs simple solid and blind rivets, bolts, screws and clips and prepares and applies adhesives to details parts to assemble products to confirm to specifications.
  • Operates production machines and equipment such as bank saws, drill presses, and other like production machines to fabricate parts, components and material for production uses.
  • Assists in reviewing production and process documentation and production scheduling and planning and in expediting the flow of material, parts and assemblies.
  • Reviews work instructions, operations manuals, blueprints and other documentation to define the requirement for the processing of parts or material to be cleaned.
  • Reads pick ticket to determine the parts to be processed.
  • Ensures parts picked are correct for the pick order and hangs the parts on the process rack per instructions.
  • Assists in loading process racks onto the clean line conveyor for processing through the various cleaning and rinsing tanks.
  • Assists in selecting the computer operating programs that control the clean line equipment, monitors and makes adjustments to the equipment as required to ensure proper overall operation of the clean line.
  • Assists in monitoring the chemical solution in the process tanks to maintain the specified liquid level and chemical mixture.
  • Adds specified amount of chemical to solutions as directed.
  • Assists in draining, cleaning, and refilling process tanks with chemicals on a periodic basis as instructed.
  • Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.
