As a Non-US Accredited Foreign Graduate, the International Pharmacy Intern completes required U.S. internship hours under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist while developing the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for pharmacist licensure. Applicants become eligible to apply after successfully passing the FPGEE and TOEFL. The mixed-modality learning plan builds on prior pharmacy education and prepares interns for diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education responsibilities. The internship must be completed within 18 months, and required pharmacist licensure exams and processes must be completed within 120 days after the required U.S. internship hours are finished. The intern helps maintain a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment and delivers patient care and customer service. Duties span pharmacy operations, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, inventory and workflow management, and leadership, excluding final prescription verification. The role includes processing prescriptions, supporting the supervising pharmacist, helping customers, participating in patient-care programs, and coordinating the training and development of pharmacy support staff. The position requires an active Pharmacy Intern license in the state where the district is located. Pharmacist licensure in the state where the position is based must be obtained within 120 days after completion of the U.S. internship hours. Failure to complete the internship within 18 months or obtain licensure as prescribed results in removal from the role and separation of employment. The role requires regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends, and the ability to lift and exert up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently.
