The International Pharmacy Intern is a Non-US Accredited Foreign Graduate who completes required U.S. internship hours under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. After passing the FPGEE and TOEFL, eligible candidates may apply to the role and undertake a mixed-modality learning plan that builds on their pharmacy education and develops their knowledge, skills, and abilities. The internship must be completed within 18 months. Within 120 days after completing the required U.S. internship hours, the intern is expected to complete and pass the required pharmacist licensure exams and processes. Failure to meet these requirements may result in removal from the role and separation of employment. The intern helps maintain a safe, effective retail pharmacy environment and deliver patient care. Work encompasses patient safety, professional pharmacy practice, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, customer service, inventory, and workflow, excluding final prescription verification. Duties are performed within applicable laws, state regulations, company policies, and the direction of pharmacy leadership and supervising pharmacists. The role includes serving pharmacy and front-store customers, processing prescriptions, supporting inventory and workflow, and assisting with permitted health care services. Under a licensed pharmacist’s direct supervision, the intern may offer counseling and direct patients to the pharmacist when needed, communicate with health care professionals, and gather relevant medical history when applicable. The position also supports pharmacy staff development, team operations, training, and patient-care programs. Candidates must meet state licensing requirements, including obtaining pharmacist licensure within the specified period after internship hours are completed.
