Allied Veterinary Specialists (AVS) is opening our brand-new, state-of-the-art Emergency & Specialty Hospital in Jacksonville, and we’re looking for skilled, compassionate Internal Medicine Veterinary Technicians to join our growing specialty team. At AVS, patient care is our #1 standard. Our Internal Medicine Technicians work directly alongside our Internal Medicine Specialist to help investigate, diagnose, and manage some of the most challenging and complex medical conditions in veterinary medicine. We are building an exceptional Internal Medicine Team at our new Jacksonville hospital. Internal Medicine is all about looking deeper—asking questions, connecting the pieces, and helping uncover answers for patients and families who may have been searching for them for some time. Our Internal Medicine Technicians are essential members of that process, providing exceptional nursing care while assisting our specialist with advanced diagnostics, procedures, treatments, and ongoing management of complex medical cases.

Requirements

  • Experienced in veterinary patient care and excited about Internal Medicine, advanced diagnostics, and complex case management.
  • Compassionate, dependable, detail-oriented, clinically curious, eager to learn, and passionate about exceptional patient care.
  • Technicians who aren't afraid to ask "why?", who enjoy learning something new from every case, and who want to work alongside specialists and teammates who share that same passion for veterinary medicine.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Internal Medicine or specialty experience is highly valued
  • Experienced technicians coming from Emergency & Critical Care, Surgery, Anesthesia, or advanced general practice who are interested in taking the next step in their careers.

Responsibilities

  • Advanced patient assessment and nursing care
  • Endoscopy and minimally invasive procedures
  • Ultrasound-guided procedures
  • Fine needle aspirates and sample collection
  • Bone marrow procedures
  • Feeding tube placement and management
  • IV catheter placement and venipuncture
  • Advanced laboratory sample collection and processing
  • Medication and fluid therapy administration
  • Blood transfusions and monitoring
  • Anesthesia and procedural sedation
  • Chronic and complex disease management
  • Gastrointestinal, endocrine, respiratory, renal, hepatic, hematologic, and immune-mediated disease
  • Hospitalized patient monitoring and treatment
  • Client education and discharge instructions
  • Collaboration with Emergency, Critical Care, Surgery, Neurology, and other specialty services
