About The Position

Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC) is hiring a Veterinary Technician for its Internal Medicine team. The role provides hands-on experience with advanced diagnostics, specialty procedures, and patient care, with an opportunity to cross-train with Cardiology. PVESC is expanding into a new 42,000-square-foot hospital, bringing expanded specialty services and new opportunities for its team in the Portland, Maine area. Requirements

• CVT/LVT/RVT credential or experience as a Veterinary Assistant.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Compassionate, proactive, and team-oriented approach.

Nice To Haves

• Interest or experience in Internal Medicine or specialty care.
• Ultrasound or endoscopy experience.
• Familiarity with veterinary software systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ultrasounds, endoscopies, imaging, and other diagnostic procedures.
• Support Internal Medicine diagnostics and treatments.
• Assist with the radioactive I-131 program for hyperthyroid cats.
• Coordinate appointments, patient flow, and follow-up communication.
• Maintain accurate medical records and referral documentation.
• Communicate compassionately with clients about their pets’ care.
• Collaborate across specialty departments to provide patient care.
• Cross-train and support the Cardiology team.
