Internal Medicine Technician
About The Position
BluePearl Pet Hospital in Arden Hills, Minnesota is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician for its fast-paced Internal Medicine department. The technician serves as a liaison between internists and clients, communicating about patient histories, care instructions, laboratory results, patient updates, and other topics requested by doctors. Client contact takes place by phone, email, and in person. The role also includes assisting with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, filling prescriptions, taking X-rays, and collecting laboratory samples. Strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills are required.
Requirements
- Knowledge and skill as a Veterinary Technician.

Responsibilities
- Communicate with clients about patient histories, care instructions, laboratory results, and patient updates by phone, email, and in person.
- Set up constant rate infusions (CRIs).
- Calculate medical dosages and other medical math, including advanced and CRI calculations.
- Induce, monitor, and recover patients from anesthesia.
- Prepare for ultrasound and radiology procedures.
- Set up and assist with gastrointestinal, nasal, urinary, and airway endoscopic procedures.
- Clean and maintain equipment following procedures.
- Discharge Internal Medicine patients and provide basic client education, including demonstrations of insulin injections, subcutaneous fluids, and feeding tubes.
- Assist with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, fill prescriptions, take X-rays, and obtain laboratory samples.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
