About The Position

Skilled Wound Care is hiring Internal Medicine Physicians in Birmingham, Alabama, to provide wound care and lead wound care initiatives in skilled nursing facilities and post-acute settings. Physicians evaluate and treat chronic, non-healing, and complex wounds; perform bedside procedures; manage conditions that affect healing; and use advanced dressings and specialized wound protocols. The role offers clinical autonomy, opportunities to follow patients through healing, custom documentation software, and comprehensive wound care training. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with no nights, weekends, or call. Part-time physicians work 2–3 days per week; full-time physicians work 4–5 days per week. Compensation is per patient and per procedure, with quarterly bonus programs. Full-time average annual earnings are listed as $250,000–$500,000, with no earning cap for independent contractors and top performers earning more than $500,000 through performance bonuses.

Requirements

• MD or DO from an accredited institution.
• Unrestricted/clear medical license in the state of practice, or eligibility to obtain one.
• DEA license, or eligibility to obtain one.
• Complete confidential pre-employment DiSC testing and relevant skills testing.
• No previous wound care or procedural experience is required; comprehensive wound care training is provided.

• Internal Medicine or hospitalist background; Family Medicine physicians and surgeons of all backgrounds are also welcome.

Responsibilities

• Perform surgical and sharp debridement and other bedside procedures.
• Evaluate and treat chronic, non-healing, and complex wounds.
