About The Position

The Internal Medicine Physician is responsible for diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases and injuries in a community health center model setting; primarily focusing on the treatment and management of internal disorders, and chronic diseases, such as hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, and problems of the lung, brain, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract of adult and elderly patients. The Internal Medicine Physician also provides comprehensive outpatient medical services for adults and elderly patients on a continuing basis, and may provide a continuum of care into inpatient and/or residential settings. The Internal Medicine Physician is also responsible for primary prevention using current evidence-based guidelines. The Internal Medicine Physician may also serve in the capacity of a supervising physician in such instances where mid-level practitioners may require an authorizing signatory for prescribing Controlled substances listed in Schedules II, IIN, III, IIIN, IV, and V of regulated chemicals, and may also be responsible to provide clinical supervision and continuing verification of the medical assistant’s (MA) clinical skills and competency. Additionally, at certain sites, the Internal Medicine physician may serve as lab director for CLIA waived tests performed in the clinic.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school
  • Board Certified in a specific medical specialty or have completed residency and be Board eligible
  • Must be licensed in the State of Hawaii

  • Diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases and injuries in a community health center model setting.
  • Primarily focusing on the treatment and management of internal disorders, and chronic diseases, such as hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, and problems of the lung, brain, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract of adult and elderly patients.
  • Providing comprehensive outpatient medical services for adults and elderly patients on a continuing basis.
  • May provide a continuum of care into inpatient and/or residential settings.
  • Responsible for primary prevention using current evidence-based guidelines.
  • May serve in the capacity of a supervising physician for mid-level practitioners requiring an authorizing signatory for prescribing Controlled substances.
  • May be responsible to provide clinical supervision and continuing verification of the medical assistant’s (MA) clinical skills and competency.
  • May serve as lab director for CLIA waived tests performed in the clinic.
