The Internal Medicine Physician in an Outpatient setting is accountable for the clinical management of patients. This role involves the initial evaluation and treatment of patients, ongoing assessment of patient progress, and the implementation of appropriate interventions. The physician will perform initial history and physical examinations, document findings in the Electronic Medical Record, and write standard orders in accordance with hospital policy. Key responsibilities also include evaluating medical, social, and educational needs of patients, initiating referrals to ancillary departments and community resources, and providing health teaching to patients and their families on preventative care and treatment regimes. The position requires continuous professional development, including completing CME credits and attending mandatory in-service training.
