About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for an Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner (NP) to work in an inpatient Psychiatric Unit. The role involves providing coverage for a 20-bed unit, averaging 10 patients per day. Responsibilities include ED coverage and inpatient rounding as part of a consult service. The position is for Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, serving an adult patient population. The facility uses Cerner EMR, and temporary privileges are available for credentialing.

Requirements

  • Active Massachusetts licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS certification
  • Minimum 1-year Internal Medicine experience or equivalent
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics)
  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Massachusetts
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP])
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
