About The Position

This role is primarily responsible for accurate and timely accounting for the US Market, with support for Mexico and Canada on an as-needed basis. The position involves delivering P+L statements and providing insights into performance drivers to market Finance teams, highlighting key movements supported by analysis. It also includes delivering reporting and KPIs in line with the Finance Center of Excellence (FCoE) / Market Service Level Agreement. The role will be involved in the implementation of an upgrade to SAP S4 HANA and will work with Finance leadership to drive the transformation of processes and policies. Key responsibilities include safeguarding Dyson financials through the application of accounting policies and guidelines, reviewing balance sheet reconciliations to ensure high quality, and overseeing the monthly cash flow forecast submission with clear communication of drivers and variances. The Internal Controller will lead quarterly Balance Sheet reviews with key internal stakeholders, highlighting risks, opportunities, and areas of focus. Additionally, the role involves completing and updating the Customer Board Pack commentary and metrics to facilitate valuable discussions and holding subject matter expertise. For statutory requirements, the role owns the local relationship with a 3rd party provider to ensure excellent service delivery for Dyson and its markets, ensuring annual Statutory Accounts, annual Tax submissions, and any local tax requirements are prepared and submitted on time. The role also oversees year-end external audit requirements. In terms of coordination, the Internal Controller acts as the link between all global business service areas and the market, coordinating and communicating any changes impacting markets, their impact on stakeholders, and future requirements. The role partners with the Director of Financial Control Americas to deliver best-in-class Financial Operations service and builds strong relationships with key stakeholders in the markets (Commercial Finance teams). This position includes the line management of a Senior Accountant and Tax & Accounting Manager, focusing on coaching, development, and career progression. The role requires maintaining current knowledge of markets and the wider Dyson business, adapting to changes, and fulfilling any ad hoc responsibilities as directed by the Director of Financial Control Americas or CFO Americas. The Internal Controller must work at the same pace as Dyson, understanding and effectively embedding changes impacting the FCoE in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
  • 7+ years’ experience in accounting required
  • At least 5 years in a management/leadership role
  • Experience with SAP preferred
  • Prior experience in month-end close and project management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience of coaching and stakeholder management
  • Ability to organize and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive approach with great problem-solving skills
  • Highly motivated to achieve results
  • Proactively highlights and progresses solutions for issues identified

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill any other ad hoc responsibilities as directed by the Director of Financial Control Americas or CFO Americas.
