About The Position

The Internal Communications Specialist plays an important role in helping employees connect to Assurant’s strategy, culture, business priorities, and purpose through clear, engaging, and impactful communications. Working across a variety of channels, including email, intranet, newsletters, presentations, leader communications, town halls, and employee social platforms, this role helps bring key initiatives and company stories to life for a global workforce. Partnering closely with internal communications leaders, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams, the Specialist will help turn communications strategies into clear, polished, and effective deliverables. From supporting enterprise campaigns and leadership communications to coordinating content, managing communication channels, and driving project deliverables, this role is instrumental in ensuring employees receive the information they need to stay informed, connected, and engaged. This position is ideal for a communications professional who enjoys combining strong writing and storytelling skills with exceptional organization and project management. The successful candidate has 3-5 years of experience in internal, employee, or corporate communications and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience, preferably in corporate communications or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in corporate and internal communications—preferably within a large, global organization—including relevant internship experience.

  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor messages by audience, voice, and channel.
  • Experience creating content for multiple internal channels such as employee email, intranet, newsletters, presentations, leader communications, collaboration platforms, and social-style posts.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, stakeholders, and review cycles.
  • Strong attention to detail, editorial judgment, grammar, tone, and brand/style consistency.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools including SharePoint, Teams, Viva Engage, and Copilot.
  • Hands‑on familiarity with AI tools for content creation, analytics, or workflow optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and edit internal communications across multiple channels, including announcements, newsletters, intranet content, leadership messaging, presentations, town halls, and digital communications.
  • Translate complex business information into clear, concise, and engaging messaging tailored to diverse employee audiences.
  • Ensure communications are accurate, consistent, brand-aligned, and support organizational priorities and culture.
  • Execute communication plans and campaigns that drive employee awareness, engagement, and alignment with business goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate communication calendars, content schedules, approvals, and publication timelines to ensure timely and effective delivery.
  • Partner with leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to support key communication initiatives, events, meetings, and announcements.
  • Track and report communications performance using available metrics, feedback, and channel data to identify opportunities to improve content, timing, targeting, and channel effectiveness.
  • Use insights and emerging tools to improve communications execution, efficiency, and employee engagement.
