About The Position

The Internal Audit Manager is responsible for delivering the organization’s risk-based internal audit plan by leading and executing audit engagements across business units. The role evaluates the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal controls, and provides clear, actionable recommendations to improve organizational performance. The position also supports audit planning, reporting to senior management and the Audit Committee, and contributes to strengthening Internal Audit practices and relationships across the organization.

Requirements

  • Professional designation such as CPA, CIA, or equivalent required.
  • Many years of progressive experience in internal audit, risk management, or a related field in a complex organization.
  • Strong knowledge of internal audit standards (IIA), internal controls, and risk management frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute audits and assess control effectiveness using structured methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and recommend practical solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting findings to management.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with external auditors or in regulated, public‑sector, or quasi‑governmental environments is an asset.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure development, public‑sector capital projects, construction delivery, and real estate is also considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute internal audit engagements from planning and walkthroughs through fieldwork and reporting, ensuring work is completed on time and meets quality standards.
  • Assess governance, risk management, and internal control processes using a structured, risk-based audit approach.
  • Develop audit programs, conduct risk assessments, and identify control gaps and process inefficiencies.
  • Prepare clear and concise audit reports, present findings to stakeholders, and support the development of management action plans.
  • Provide input into the annual risk-based audit plan and identify emerging risks, themes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders and support constructive resolution of audit findings.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and service providers and support continuous improvement of internal audit practices and methodologies.
