About The Position

Gray Media, a multimedia company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is the nation's largest owner of top-rated local television stations and digital assets. WKYT-TV, located in Lexington, KY, is home to the CBS and CW affiliates and is the news leader in its market, producing over 9.5 hours of news per day. This is a paid internship program designed to provide an immersive experience where interns serve as valued team members. The program offers opportunities to produce a weekday newscast, create digital content, collaborate with experienced professionals, and build a professional-grade portfolio. Internships have the potential to extend through the fall semester and provide opportunities to produce over the holidays. The work schedule is flexible and ideally requires 20 hours per week.

Requirements

Current enrollment in a college or university (preferred Junior or Senior status).
Pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, News, Sports, or a related field.
A "doer" mindset with initiative and a willingness to work.
Understanding that media happens across multiple platforms (digital savvy).
Strong work ethic, organization, and a "can-do" attitude.
Clear and confident communication skills for storytelling and pitching ideas.
Reliability and commitment to the full 10-week program and 25-hour weekly schedule.
Passion for the local community and understanding of local media's impact.
Must be currently enrolled in a college/university (preferred Junior/Senior).
Strong work ethic and organizational skills.
Desire to get hands-on experience in the local media industry.
