About The Position

The Gray Media Training Program at WEEK-TV in East Peoria, Illinois, is seeking interns to support newsroom operations. This program offers a unique opportunity for college students to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of local media, including news gathering, video editing, digital content creation, and potentially roles in production, weather, news, or as a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ). Interns will work closely with experienced professionals to learn how to edit news, sports, and digital stories for daily newscasts, publish content to the station website, and support social media channels. The program is designed to provide real-world assignments, drive digital engagement, and build a professional portfolio, positioning interns for potential full-time career opportunities within Gray Media's extensive network.

Requirements

Current enrollment in college, preferably Junior or Senior status.
Pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
A "doer" mindset with initiative.
Understanding that media happens everywhere (digital savvy).
Strong work ethic, organization, and a "can-do" attitude.
Good communication skills to tell a story, pitch an idea, or explain a forecast.
Reliability and commitment to the full 10-week program and 25-hour weekly schedule.
Passion for local community and local media.
Currently enrolled in a college/university, preferably in your senior year.
Dependable, energetic, organized, inquisitive, and works well with others.

Nice To Haves

Entry-level experience with editing and shooting video.

Responsibilities

Edit videos for news stories.
Assist with digital operations, including publishing content to the station website.
