About The Position

This part-time position is used for training purposes in the field of public administration and in the specific operation of City departments. The position is responsible for providing standard research and administrative and/or technical support to an assigned City department. Typical duties include: performing a wide variety of administrative, project-related, department-specific, and/or financial assignments to assist a City department or division. This position may also be utilized for students and interns working part-time on special projects while completing advanced degree programs. This position is located in the Administration Division of the Airports Department within the City of Oklahoma City. The safety intern will play a vital role in supporting our airport operations by assisting with safety audits, participating in training sessions, and helping to implement safety initiatives. They will gain hands-on experience in regulatory compliance, incident reporting, and general airport safety procedures, all while contributing to a safer environment for staff and travelers.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application submission.
  • Employees in part-time/year-round positions may work no more than 29 hours per week.
  • Completion of the application questions is required.
  • Applicant responses to the application questions must specifically answer the questions asked.
  • Responses to application questions must be supported by work history/information listed on the application/resume.
  • Employees assigned to the Airports Department must successfully pass a thorough TSA background check including fingerprinting.

Nice To Haves

  • Currently enrolled in Aviation, Safety, Risk Management, or Emergency Management related degree program.
  • Currently possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Completed a minimum of five (5) courses in safety, airport operations, regulatory compliance, risk management, emergency management or related subject areas.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Previous internship, volunteer, or leadership experience demonstrating written and verbal communication skills in a professional setting.
