About The Position

TSMC Arizona is seeking engineering interns for its advanced technology fab in Phoenix, Arizona. Interns will join various engineering departments, including Facilities and Design & Construction. The program emphasizes reliability, enthusiasm, and adherence to core values: Integrity, Commitment, Innovation, and Customer Trust. Interns will gain hands-on experience in system operations, validation, documentation, and project support within their respective fields. The internship is designed for students to demonstrate their learning, collaborate with teams, and contribute to TSMC Arizona's culture.

Requirements

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Currently enrolled at an accredited university.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor, Master, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction, or related engineering fields.
  • Able to work full-time for 10 weeks (40 hours per week) on-site at the Phoenix location.
  • Available for the internship duration: Semester system: May 24, 2027 to August 6, 2027; June 7, 2027 to August 20, 2027. Quarter system: June 14, 2027 to August 27, 2027.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing process and design is a strong add.

Responsibilities

  • Support the operation and validation of electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, diesel generators, UPS, and transmission lines.
  • Perform system walkdowns, validation, and startups for electrical systems.
  • Develop operations and maintenance documentation for electrical systems.
  • Contribute to special projects within the electrical engineering scope.
  • Assist in the operation and validation of mechanical systems, including cleanroom and non-cleanroom HVAC, air abatement, and chilled water systems.
  • Perform system walkdowns, validation, and startups for mechanical systems.
  • Create operations and maintenance documentation for mechanical systems.
  • Contribute to special projects within the mechanical engineering scope.
  • Support the operation and validation of water treatment systems, including ultrapure water and wastewater systems.
  • Perform system walkdowns, validation, and startups for water treatment systems.
  • Develop operations and maintenance documentation for water treatment systems.
  • Contribute to special projects within the water treatment engineering scope.
  • Assist in the operation and validation of gas and chemical systems, including pure chemical delivery, slurry chemical delivery, bulk and specialty gases, and chemical waste systems.
  • Perform system walkdowns, validation, and startups for gas and chemical systems.
  • Create operations and maintenance documentation for gas and chemical systems.
  • Contribute to special projects within the gas and chemical engineering scope.
  • Work closely with TSMC construction and engineering teams to manage systems for storing and distributing specialty and bulk chemicals and gases.
  • Oversee construction activities, assist with forecasting, reporting, and work planning.
  • Troubleshoot commissioning challenges, resolve field issues, and respond to RFIs to ensure seamless project execution and optimal system performance.
  • Collaborate with TSMC construction teams and crews to oversee concrete, steel structures, and architectural finishes.
  • Monitor key construction activities, support forecasting and reporting and work planning activities.
  • Troubleshoot construction hold-ups and field issues, and respond to RFIs to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Collaborate with TSMC construction teams, electrical engineers, and crews on electrical systems ranging from low voltage to high voltage (up to 230kV).
  • Monitor and track electrical installation and troubleshooting activities.
  • Support forecasting, reporting, and work planning efforts with project management.
  • Assist in resolving commissioning issues, field challenges, and responding to RFIs from construction crews.
  • Collaborate with TSMC construction teams, mechanical and water engineers, and crews on advanced ultra-pure water systems and specialty wastewater treatment systems.
  • Monitor and track construction activities in the field.
  • Support forecasting, reporting, and work planning with project management.
  • Assist in resolving commissioning issues, field challenges, and responding to RFIs from construction crews.
  • Collaborate with TSMC construction teams, mechanical engineers, and crews on systems such as HVAC, clean room systems, air abatement, and process water systems.
  • Monitor and track construction activities in the field.
  • Support forecasting, reporting, and work planning with project management.
  • Assist in resolving commissioning issues, clean room contamination, field challenges, and responding to RFIs from construction crews.
  • Responsibilities are not limited to those mentioned above and may include additional duties as required.
